DISCOVER EAS

The European Aligner Society aims to provide information on orthodontic aligner therapy to clinicians and public through effective communication, and education. Information will be underpinned by promoting high standards in orthodontic aligner treatment and through research.

The European Aligner Society was launched in May 2014 through the combined enthusiasm of 6 clinicians with a passion for aligner therapy. The original concept, raised in a late-night post-meeting session in Amsterdam, resulted in the formation of a registered Society, with 5 founder members – Dr Tommaso Castroflorio, Dr Clemens Fricke, Dr Graham Gardner, Dr Francesco Garino, and Dr Leslie Joffe. Dr Juan Carlos Rivero Lesmes joined as a director soon thereafter. The 6 clinicians directed the fledgling EAS on its path as a scientific society, whose aims are to provide information and education on aligner therapy, a treatment modality which has shown an incremental growth in interest over the last decade amongst both clinicians, patients and technology companies.

Tommaso Castroflorio

Tommaso Castroflorio

President 2022-2023 and Director of Education

I’m a specialist orthodontist and a researcher. I work with passion and energy in both the clinical and the research settings. I love teaching and new technologies: this is the reason why I wrote several scientific papers in order to try to contribute to the knowledge about orthodontics and oral physiology. In my clinical practice I love evidence based orthodontics. EAS could be the right non-profit project that Orthodontics needs in order to obtain sound evidence supporting aligner therapies.

Tommaso is an Orthodontist living and working in Torino, Italy. He obtained his DDS degree from the University of Torino and from the same University he obtained the postgraduate degree in Orthodontics. He was always involved in research and following this passion, he travelled a lot across Europe and he received a PhD degree in Human Anatomy fro the University of Milan, Italy.

Since 2003 he has a private practice in Torino where he focused his work on orthodontics and temporomandibular disorders. Orthodontic treatment with aligners has evolved through the years from an adjunctive option for selected cases, to a global trend, pursued both by doctors, as well as patients. I have always been a strong proponent of sharing knowledge and expertise with my peers, in order to improve our skills, as well as a means of protecting the principles of our specialty. The European Aligner Society is committed to serving this purpose and it is my greatest honour to be a member of its Board. I see EAS as a dynamic international community that, besides advancing aligner therapy, it forges strong bonds between its members and emphasizes our core mission: to continue providing orthodontic treatment using the highest standards of care.

Dr. Gina Theodoridis obtained her Orthodontic degree from New York University, School of Dentistry, in the USA.
Ranked top of her class, she was honored with the Theodore L. Jerrold Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence.
After completing her specialization, she fulfilled a teaching fellowship in New York University, where she served as a faculty member for two years.
She has been working intensely with aligners since 2000 when the technique was born and is currently an Invisalign Platinum Elite provider. She has published articles and is an international lecturer about aligner treatment, as well as combinations of aligners and orthodontic mini implants.
In 2015, she was involved in the establishment of the Greek Orthodontic Aligner Study Club, a peer based study team founded in Athens, Greece; she has been the Clinical Team Manager of this group. She is also a founding member of the Greek Orthodontic Aligner Society and since 2018, an elected member of its board. She maintains a private practice in Athens, Greece.

My relationship with orthodontics begins after obtaining my medical and stomatology specialist degree in the early 1980s. At that time I took a 2-year specialization course in Orthodontics, after which I continued my integration in that team of the Department of Orthodontics of the University of Valencia. And since then I shared that activity with the private practice of orthodontics, also in the city of Valencia. Since 2011 I began to be interested in orthodontics with aligners from which we have developed a Master's degree at the University of Valencia since 2013.

Since then, I have developed an intense professional, teaching, continuing education and research activity. But, above all, and what I am most proud of is the training of young orthodontists where I am the Head of the Master of Orthodontics at the University of Valencia after becoming a Full Professor in 1992. I also belong to several orthodontic societies such as EAS , SEDO, WFA, AAO, EOS and many other professional and scientific associations. I have published in practically all orthodontic and related magazines and have been a national and international speaker for many years.
