TOPIC

CBCT & SureSmile Aligners: why is this relation so important for aligners treatment success?
The orthodontic treatment with aligners has been suffering constant evolutions especially regarding biomechanical properties of the aligners and auxiliary devices, striving to shorten the treatment time and improve overall predictability.

Nevertheless, CBCT represents a powerful diagnosis tool for the unique images that can provide in terms of root positions and transverse tomographic analysis. With these kinds of images our treatment planning with aligners will be much more complete as we can detect any anomalies with a 3D view.

SureSmile allows also for a detailed and study and simulation of the dynamic relation between root and surrounding bone, allowing a much more safer treatment plan, avoiding dangerous expansions or movements that may cause fenestrations or gingival recessions.

The aim of this lecture is to emphasize the importance of the use of CBCT as a routine tool in diagnosing our patients, demonstrating it with clinical examples.

TOPIC

Efficiency of the Invisalign System in Complex Teen treatments: Elastics or Wings for a successful outcome
The aim of this preliminary study was to compare the use of the MA and Elastics when treating complex Class II malocclusions in growing patients.

Two groups of Class II malocclusion subjects at their growth spurt were treated respectively with the Mandibular Advancement feature and through an Invisalign® treatment protocol involving both upper molar distalization and mandibular advancement supported by Class II Elastics. Lateral cephalograms were obtained before treatment (T0) and at the end of treatment (T1). A commercial software (Delta-Dent CE®) was used to perform landmark identifications and cephalometric tracings.

In all patients a molar Class I relationship was obtained with a significant correction and regularization of overjet evaluated cephalometrically. The mean treatment time was 11,8 ± 3 months plus a refinement phase of 2,5 ± 0,9 months (9,1±3,5 aligners). Significant reduction of ANB angle and a mandibular length increase were observed. The mandibular incisor inclination interestingly did not increase, showing an ideal control of aligners when using both Class II elastics and MA.

The use of elastics in combination with the Invisalign system as well as Invisalign MA delivers a reliable functional effect. Even if both treatments revealed to be successful, a proper patient selection is mandatory to decide between the MA feature and elastics in order to keep the orthodontic treatments as much efficient as possible.

SMILERS EXPERT exclusive options for total setup control : staging and movement planning, root visualization, smile mockups, implant positioning, dynamic articulator... and more.
New exclusive options included in Biotech Dental’s Smilers Expert Editor offer orthodontists very powerful tools to have a better control of their patient’s setup and teeth movement simulation.

Practitioner are now able to modify each kind of movement in space and time for each tooth, they have the possibility to add, remove or scale different kind of buccal or lingual attachments, they can visualize teeth roots with the exclusive CBCT segmenting, they have access to a precise articulator and automatic mandible rotations. Also, they will have a smile mock-up for patients showing the stages and treatment plan results on photo. Finally, for multidisciplinary treatments, they will be able to foresee implants and prosthetics additions and accordingly modify the orthodontic treatment plan...

All these new exclusive features improve the predictability, give more responsibility and new possibilities to the orthodontist on the setup, and better communication between orthodontists and labs, other practitioners and patients.

TOPIC

Predictable Management of Complex Clinical Movements.
Increasing clinical requirements, correlation of complexity of movements and material performance determine the accuracy of orthodontic treatment. The combination of root visualization on Spark Approver Software provides visibility for accurate treatment planning. Constant development of clinical complexity, patient expectations and treatment ambition aiming towards increased predictable clinical outcome is possible in the most complex cases because of recent material and software development. During this webinar, Dr. Ivan Malagon will show challenging clinical situations that were predictably treated with the benefits of TruGen and TruGen XR material composition, that allow for biomechanical control during all phases of the treatment.
